Soul Food Sisters are back with an exciting 2-hours Spanish and Algerian baking class delivered by our amazing chefs Angie and Razika!
Our lovely ladies will be teaching you how to bake traditional bread recipes at home, using everyday simple and healthy ingredients. They will also share personal stories about the meaning and the history of bread in each culture, alongside their recipes and advice.
What we will do:
In this workshop, we will combine two different cultures in such an exciting and delicious way and we will be sharing with you not only one recipe but two!
Razika will share the “mother-to-daughter” traditional Algerian recipe of Khobz el dar (Bread of the house), a soft and tender bread that requires no kneading and is perfect for the whole family!
Angie will show us how to make the best Savoury Coca in town, a leavened delicious savoury “cake” typically made and consumed in Catalonia, Spain. Coca bread is considered to be the mother of many well-known flatbreads such as pizza, focaccia, lahmacun but it’s even better!
Through this workshop, we hope to spark a conversation about culture, family, and tradition. We’ll encourage everyone to share their own stories and we’ll discuss new experiences with each other. All profits from the workshops will help Soul Food Sisters to continue supporting the community in varying ways including meals for the homeless, asylum seekers, migrants, refugees, goodies bags with essentials for the homeless, supporting women’s groups, and much more so your participation and support are crucial to us as!
